About Koru Surf Forecast
Bringing clarity to Southern California surf forecasting
Our Mission
Koru Surf Forecast was created by surfers, for surfers. We believe that understanding ocean conditions shouldn't require a degree in meteorology. Our goal is to provide accurate, easy-to-understand surf forecasts for the Southern California coastline, helping you find the perfect wave.
How It Works
We aggregate data from multiple trusted sources and use advanced algorithms to predict wave conditions at your favorite breaks. Our forecasts consider swell height, period, direction, wind conditions, and local bathymetry to give you the most accurate picture possible.
Data Sources

Primary source for offshore buoy data, swell models, and marine weather forecasts covering the entire Pacific basin.
NDBC Buoy Network
Real-time wave measurements from the National Data Buoy Center's network of offshore buoys providing ground-truth observations.
CDIP - Scripps Institution
The Coastal Data Information Program provides detailed nearshore wave measurements and spectral analysis for California beaches.
Local Tide Data
Tide predictions from NOAA tide stations, essential for understanding how swells will interact with local reefs and sandbars.

Always exercise caution when entering the ocean. Check conditions in person before paddling out, be aware of your skill level, and respect local surf etiquette. Koru Surf Forecast is not responsible for any decisions made based on our forecasts.
When in doubt, don't go out. Safety always comes first.
